New Haven Invite

I wasn't quite ready for Blake to round the corner in the lead.
I was just trying to pan.
Tents and colored flags in the background are pretty neat.

FlashRock Invite

I have been wanting to take some black and white photos at our meets. I can set it in-camera. But this one was taken in color and adjusted in Photoshop CS2. I used a method suggested by Dave Black in his Workshop at the Ranch website, October 2007 edition. It goes beyond the simple adjustments>monochrome settings. It requires some adjustments in channel mixer, color balance and shadows.

I like the moment too. I am attempting to get more shots outside the competition of racing. The preparation before the race. Little things do matter!

Maconaquah Invite

I have been trying to get a blurred background by using a slower shutter speed. I finally captured a shot that begins to work. Normally, I have been trying this type of shot at the start of the race. I really want to capture our guys, but we seem to get swallowed up in the pack as we are a slow starting team. This close-up of Jesse was the best of the day.

Marion Invite 2008

Lean
I like this photo as it captures the "lean" of the runner as he corners to the finish.

Shutter Priority: 1/2500 f/4
ISO:200
Lens: 85 mm
"I didn't hear him coming"

I like this shot as I captured the "look" of getting caught, just 150 meters from the finish.

Shutter Priority: 1/2500 f/2.2

Black and Gold Hokum Karem

I like the angle of this shot. But I forgot to adjust the aperture; hence the f/9 keeps the background too sharp and not blurred. Hard to remember changing factors as the meet and coaching seem to take precedence. I would like to begin working on shutter priority and seeking some blurred backgrounds at sl0wer shutter speeds.
